Top 5 Things The Straight Outta Compton Movie Eludes Over

5. D.O.C. Influence On N.W.A.

D.O.C. is an unofficial member of N.W.A. and before his accident he was a very skilled lyricist. He even helped pen some lyrics for Eazy just as much as Cube/Ren did. I understand that the movie can only focus on so many outside factors outside of the group, however, D.O.C. was very influential on the group and not a lot of people even realize that.

4. Lack Of Focus On MC Ren

When the promotion of the film began MC Ren blasted Universal Studios for making him seem like just, “apart of the group" which fans agreed with. Even though MC Ren still supported the film he was absolutely right to be upset considering his contribution to the group after Cube went solo. Even when the whole group was together Ren and Cube was neck-to-neck (in my opinion) in terms of lyrics. Ren's first solo album was successful and even went gold and the film doesn't even bother to mention it at all. MC Ren is a big factor of the groups success just as much as Cube is but in the film he's nothing but a background character.

3. Eazy And Dre's Beef Post N.W.A.

After Suge was able to get Dre out of his contracts with Jerry, they created their own record label, Death Row Records. There's little focus on Dre creating his first solo album other than us seeing him make Nuthin' But A G Thang with Snoop. Watching him produce one of the best hip hop albums til this day The Chronic wasn't too much of a concern. What is though is that Eazy and Dre was beefing around this time and Dre even has a couple of jabs thrown at Eazy on The Chronic album. I guess it was left out for one of two reasons: not enough time in the film or simply because they didn't want to disrespect Eazy's name.

2. Dre's History Of Substance Abuse

Something that a lot of people might not know is that in the original draft of Straight Outta Compton not only was Dre's substance abuse a topic of discussion but so was his toxic history with women. I’m not sure what happened after Cube left but Dre was the complete opposite of how he was portrayed in the smash single Express Yourself by the controversial group. When he left N.W.A. and created Death Row it seemed like he became a high school “bad boy” so to speak. Hip hop journalist Dee Barnes and former R&B singer Michel'le have both claimed to have experienced physical harm on Dre's part. Yes, while Dre has publicly apologized for his actions and regrets doing (should have been in private to the women first) so the film doesn't even bother to mention any of these things.

1. Eazy Wasn't Broke After The Group Split

Let's make this clear: Eazy was still successful after he went solo and linked up with Bone Thugs. He was not dead broke and going back to selling weed like the film portrayed him to be. Everyone that was still around him at the time even disclaims the fact that he was going broke. I'm not sure why this was even a creative decision but it was a very poor one at that.
