Why I Think The Snow White Remake Is Going To Flop

Am I the only one that totally forgot that this film was coming out towards the end of next month? I have only seen a trailer for this once since they released the teaser for it back in November or whenever I watched it. Based on the lack of promotion for this it seems like Disney doesn't have any hope for this at all. But why is that?

For starters the film was pushed back a year when dwarf actor Peter Dinklage (previously starred in Game of Thrones) discussed his disapproval of Disney not hiring dwarf actors for the seven dwarves. While, I understand Peter Dinklage's frustration and I agree with him a lot of dwarf actors and even fans blamed him for putting dwarf actors out of a job. Not only that but the trailer just looks too CGI for me. From the terrible dwarves, the forest, there is no sense of realism from this film at all.

Gal Gadot being a zionist may also have something to do with people not wanting to see this film. But it also may have something to do with the fact that she is a terrible actress. The Justice League scene with her screaming, “Kal-El" perfectly describes her how audiences feel about her acting. Other than the first Wonder Woman she has done nothing to showcase her acting range. Rachel Zeigler calling out Gal Gadot for being a zionist is definitely a way to cause a rift between the Fandom.

Speaking of Rachel Zeigler she might be the most controversial Disney princesses that we have gotten so far. Some people love her while most people view her as a bratty, annoying, narcissist. Honestly, I think a lot of the backlash lands on Rachel. From her bashing the original Snow White film, to calling out Gal Gadot for being a zionist, even telling right-wing supporters not to see this film was Rachel signing a death certificate for her own film. This is a prime example of two things: Disney not protecting their actors and Rachel Zeigler not having proper media training.

While I think the backlash is a little forced I do think that Rachel Zeigler is a huge part of the reason why no one is excited about this film. From the teaser trailer I was getting, ‘girl boss feminist’ vibes and I'm not interested in it. The original Snow White is about conventional beauty standards and they've changed the original classic to ‘girl boss feminist’ leader with CGI dwarves. Personally, I'm not a fan of the ‘girl boss feminist’ movement because it only caterers to white women while also saying, “we don't need love”. Yes it was okay at first but when you see those movies on repeat it kind of gets annoying especially considering the lack of love stories that Hollywood developes now a days.
