Marty Supreme Review

The marketing for this new A24 film starring Timothée Chalamet has been absolutely crazy. Without getting in major spoilers Marty Supreme is the new A24 sports drama about Marty Mauser who wants to accomplish his dreams of being a professional tennis table player. While, Marty Mauser is a very confident in his skills he is also very stubborn, selfish, over bearing and just a dick. Marty is someone who constantly takes from people but doesn't give anything in return.

Marty is one of those characters that is not only constantly bailed out of his problems but whenever he receives karma he learns absolutely nothing from it. Timothée Chalamet is excellent as Marty Mauser and this is easily one of his best performances of his career thus far. The longer this film went on the more trouble that Marty got himself into and it just had me on the edge of my seat. I can't get into spoilers but there is a scene involving Marty and a old guy with a gun that had me sitting up in my chair.

This film is 2 and a half hours and it doesn't feel like it at all because the pacing is great and the acting performances are phenomenal. You have a star studded cast with the likes of Odessa A'zion, Tyler Okonma (Tyler The Creator), Gwyneth Paltrow, Kevin O'Leary, etc. Rather these actors have 20 minutes of screen time, 50 or more there is not a single bad performance in this film at all from any of them. One of my favorite things about this film is how it's shot. At times it feels like i’m watching a documentary which to me only intensifies the tennis table matches.

I wish I can go on and on about how much I love this film but I would get into spoiler territory. As great as this film is if Timothée Chalamet didn't win an Oscar for this film I wouldn't be upset just because he's still young and has several great performances ahead of him. This is not only one of the best A24 films but one of the best movies of 2025 and this did not disappoint at all. Marty Supreme is a phenomenal sports drama that will have you sad, angry and stressed out all at the same time.
