One Of Them Days Review

One Of Them Days is a buddy comedy film starring Keke Palmer and SZA who is making her feature film debut. I was very skeptical when I first saw the trailer only for a couple of reasons. One: movies like this are usually trashed by non black critics because of them not understanding the culture. The second reason is because when a music artist transitions to acting it can be hit or miss. And boy did SZA hit a home run with her performance with Keke Palmer.

Keke Palmer and SZA play roomates Dreux and Alyssa. When Alyssa's boyfriend spends their rent money on his clothing line they have until the end of the day to come up with $1500 until they are kicked out. On top of that Dreux also has an interview to worry about but she can't even focus on that because whenever her and Alyssa have a plan to come up with the money something goes awry. This whole movie takes place in one day so the clock is ticking on Dreux and Alyssa to come up with the money but they keep getting side tracked with one problem after another.

SZA and Keke Palmer have great chemistry together and SZA gives a lot of energy in her debut performance. The ensemble cast is spectacular with comedians such as Tony Baker, Janelle James, Katt Williams, among several others. Even if someone has five minutes of screentime they are able to make it work in their favor. This gave me Friday vibes and I absolutely loved it. Keke Palmer and SZA congrats to these queens for making an absolute gem of a comedy film that gave 90's vibes.
