Top 5 Things To Make a Great Superman Movie

5. Show His Influence On Humanity

One thing that is known about Superman is that he inspires hope. I think Superman & Lois does an excellent job at displaying this and how a lot of people look up to him as a “superhero among the people”. Don’t be afraid to show Superman doing the traditional things like saving cats out of trees, walking the elderly across the street or even stopping civilizations from taking their own life. It makes us feel as viewers that even though this alien with incredible feets can pretty much do anything with the powers he has he chooses to help out anyway he can without being asked for anything in return.

Hell I would also like to see Superman save other civilians in other countries. It shows the impact he has on the world and it would be nice to see Superman interact with other cultures and interact with them by speaking their languages.

4. Show He's Much More Than His Strength

This is very important to remember because every single non-comic book fan says the same thing: “Superman is invincible and pretty much indestructible so I can't relate. He's just kind of boring”. Not only are you wrong because Superman is much more than his physical abilities but seeing him be challenged physically by villains much stronger than him is always interesting to watch. Parasite is one of my favorite Superman villains and being able to watch how Superman can outthink a villain that can temporarily drain his powers is just intriguing.

Also, Superman created the fortress of solitude which is essentially a household museum for his heritage and where he builds robots to help him study certain life beings, artifacts, etc. It's really not as difficult as people make it out to be.

3. Lois Lane Is Much More Than “Eye Candy”

Yes, we are all aware that Lois Lane is absolutely stunning and the perfect match for Clark. But do you also know what else she is? Witty, smart, sarcastic, loyal and brave. She is always the first and last on the scene to pry questions out of anyone she needs to until she gets answers to her questions. Sometimes her sniffing around situations she shouldn't be in gets her into trouble but Lois is more than capable of handling herself.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with showing the hero being saved by the civilian. Especially, considering how that “civilian” is the love of his life. Let's get away from the “damsel in distress" trope and show women can be romantically linked to the male hero and still physically handle themselves.

2. Focus On His Journalism

This is something that Zack Snyder's films missed from the very beginning. Clark's job at the beginning of the day (aside from Superman) is that he is a journalist and works at the busiest newspaper station in Metropolis or even in the DC in general. The Daily Planet in the Zack Snyder films were lifeless because we barely saw Lois, Clark or anyone else do their jobs and it was just a building with the words: “Daily Planet” slapped at the top of said building. From the looks of the Daily Planet in the teaser trailer of James Gunn Superman, it feels like a character.

Like if the Daily Planet was a real place I would absolutely work there. Is it so hard to see Clark Kent on the scene investigating something from the main villain? Or even verbally sparring with Lois over certain topics that they want to cover.

1. Don't Make Lex Luthor The Main Antagonist

Every great hero has an excellent villain. Batman has Joker, Spider-Man has Venom, Captain America has Red Skull, Thor has Loki & Superman has Lex Luthor. Now I absolutely love Lex Luthor's portrayals in the DCU from the animated series to the animated feature films. But for the love of God just like the Joker we have to put him on stand-by.

So far the only live action Lex Luthor portrayals I have enjoyed is in Smallville and Superman & Lois. They just seem to miss the mark on the character in the films. If you want Lex Luthor to be in a Superman film that's completely fine, however, just don’t make him Superman's main focus on taking down. Let's see some of his other rogues that we have yet to see.

Parasite would be a great first villain to show a sympathetic human turned monster that just wants human contact but is unable to because of his powers. Atomic Skull is another great choice to display mental health and personality disorder as a man who is driven to insanity and develops an alternate personality when he develops his powers. The list is endless on who you can use and how they can be used. Just please don’t use Luthor and if you are then “save the best for last" is what they always say.
